Student #artwork inspired by @jose_romussi used @photoshop to mix media.

"I was inspired by Jose Romussi and how he was able to combine mix media art with his photography. He creates a decorative photo that has high contrast. I wanted to also make a self-portrait so I had my light body show high contrast against the black background.

My process began by thinking of layers. This would give it a 3d look and make my subject stand out. The body was first and then came the head of the bird. Next were the wings. Smoke was added as an overly.

Both the head and smoke uses warm colors. This makes the subject feel warm against a cold background. The red color adds a scary feeling that makes people imagine.

My personal cultural is a love for nature and animals. I have pet birds and they represent my identity. Birds are free and independent. Jose Romussi inspired me to show high contrast against the subject and background. The subject is naked. They have nothing to hide and showing their true self. It combines digital art which is a part of my generations culture.

My culture is independence and freedom. Also nature is an important part. I want people to understand that my artwork is the true representation of me. They can see me and I have nothing to hide. Maybe in real life people do not understand me or my style. They see me as a girl from China, but my artwork can show more about me. I can show myself loud and bold."
